Dallas Cowboys Coaching Staff For 2020 Under Mike McCarthy

The Dallas Cowboys coaching staff is nearly finished, with only a few assistants still yet to be put in place. So with all the major hires put in place under new head coach Mike McCarthy, Cowboys Report host Tom Downey is here to break down all the Cowboys news on hires, changes, moves, coaches and grade the new coaches as well. Mike McCarthy is the Cowboys head coach and his top assistants are Kellen Moore, Mike Nolan and John Fassel. Moore, surprisingly, will call the plays on offense. Nolan will stick with a 3-4 defense, but the defensive scheme will change. Fassel might have been the best hire by the Cowboys, because the special teams badly needed an upgrade. Cowboys coaches include only one other assistant sticking on the staff. Doug Nussmeier is moving from TE coach to QB coach, replacing Jon Kitna. Skip Peete is back with the Cowboys after leaving in 2012. McCarthy also brought in several coaches he’s worked with before. Joe Philbin is the new OL Coach and has NFL head coach experience. Scott McCurley also worked with the Packers, as did assistant coaches Al Harris (well, player) and Jeff Blasko. The Cowboys coaching staff also got a big addition in DL Jim Tomsula. He’s a great defensive line coach and will be a good replacement for Rod Marinelli. The Cowboys do still have some coaching spots to fill, but for the most part, the staff is ready to go.
