The Orlando Magic fell short of their postseason expectations this past season, but those expectations haven't dropped at going into the 2016-17 season. To help them get there, they're looking to free agency to add some missing pieces. Aside from their own free agents, here are three players they are targeting on the open market.
3) Dwight Howard
Howard has expressed interest in returning to Orlando this offseason, but the Magic don't want to give him the max contract he desires. Unfortunately for Dwight, he's unlikely to get that max contract, and that may work in Orlando's favor. If Howard is willing to take less money, the Magic could sign him as a needed rim protector.
2) Ryan Anderson
The Magic need shooting and have been looking for a stretch four to put next to Nikola Vucevic, and Anderson would fill both of those needs. He made two or more three-pointers a game for the sixth straight season this year, and will be one of the most sought-after power forwards on the market.
1) Mike Conley
Elfrid Payton doesn't appear to be the answer as the Magic's long-term starting point guard, and if they decide to look for a new starter, there's no better fit than Conley. He is a defensive specialist with underrated scoring ability and is an excellent leader, meaning he would fit in perfectly with Orlando. His veteran presence would be much needed on this talented young team.
