Don Brown and Jim Harbaugh got a boost of confidence after shutting out Rutgers 52-0 in Saturday’s week 5 matchup. Michael Dwumbfor returned, Dax Hill showed out and Michigan’s run defense held Rutgers running back Raheem Blackshear and Isaih Pacheco to just 34 yards rushing combined. Following the blowout win over Rutgers, James Yoder answers questions about the defense during Michigan Football Report’s LIVE reaction video, seen here: https://youtu.be/765MM04mOeQ SUBSCRIBE: Michigan Football Report with James Yoder is powered by Chat Sports. Possibly. Despite trouble defending against crossing routes, the defense as a whole looked more aggressive and seemed to be able to rush the passer more effectively. The defense recorded just two sacks vs. Rutgers but it’s a step in the right direction. Rutgers gained 70 yards on their second possession. After that, they didn’t gain more than 36 yards on any of their final nine drives. QB Sitkowski was sacked twice and hurried another four times, resulting in just 152 total yards of offense. Here’ s a full list of questions answered on today’s show: Run defense vs. Iowa? McGrone replace Glasgow or Ross? Worried about defense? Dax Hill earning more playing time? Ohio State preview Hill, Mazi and Hinton playing more? Cam McGrone started at middle linebacker and made a big impact on the field, even if the stat sheet doesn’t show it. Michigan vs. Rutgers was just his 4th collegiate game but McGrone was one of James’ standouts on Michigan’s defense. Daxton Hill, true freshman, also got some playing time in the 52-0 victory. Hill had four tackles, three of which were solo, and coach Jim Harbaugh commented on Hill’s speed and coachability. Could McGrone and Hill expect to get more playing time moving forward? Michigan Football Rumors: Josh Gattis And Shea Patterson Questions After 52-0 Win Over Rutgers

Episode 231

Michigan Football bounced back in a big way, defeating Rutgers 52-0 in week 5 of the 2019 College Football season. Shea Patterson played with confidence and Josh Gattis’ offense looked much improved. Could it be because Gattis was calling the game from the sideline? James Yoder, host of the Michigan Football Report, answered questions about the Wolverines offense in a LIVE reaction video filmed on Saturday. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/765MM04mOeQ Ronnie Bell led the team in receptions, finishing the day with 6 receptions for 83 yards. Shea Patterson was able to distribute the ball to eight different receivers, including Donovan-Peoples Jones for 62 yards and Nico Collins for 59 yards and a touchdown. While Josh Gattis and the offense looked good on tape, are they actually improving or was it just because they were playing an unranked Rutgers team? Should fans be impressed by the win? Michigan Football Report can be found on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Podcast and on Chat Sports, see the links below! https://www.youtube.com/michigantv https://www.facebook.com/harbaughgoblue/ https://www.twitter.com/chatwolverines https://www.chatsports.com/michigan-wolverines/ Josh Gattis coached from the sideline for the first time this season and it made a notable difference. Gattis was animated on the sideline, congratulating players on touchdowns and visibly frustrated with referees. Against Rutgers, the Wolverines doubled their season scoring average and racked up 476 total yards. The passing game averaged 12 yards a throw and the run game was responsible for five touchdowns. It's safe to say that Gattis will call more games from the sideline. Here’ s a full list of questions answered on today’s show: Josh Gattis play calling from booth or sideline? Jim Harbaugh, Josh Gattis Play Calling, Shea Patterson & McGrone Starting? I Michigan Football Q&A

Episode 230

Michigan Football got their fifth straight win over Rutgers on Saturday in the Big House, 52-0. Michigan did something it hasn’t done all season-- scored on the opening drive of the game. Shea Patterson had three rushing touchdowns on the day and Don Brown’s defense held Rutgers to less than 200 total yards of offense. James Yoder answers questions about Jim Harbaugh, Michigan’s offense, defense and more in this Michigan Football Report. This video was filmed as part our LIVE reaction video following the shutout win over Rutgers, watch here: https://youtu.be/765MM04mOeQ Shea Patterson didn’t play in the 4th quarter, allowing Joe Milton to get some live game snaps. Milton was 3 of 4 for 59 yards, a touchdown pass to Giles Jackson and a rushing touchdown. Michigan entered this week’s game ranked #20, but where will the Wolverines stack up after they dominated Rutgers in a 52-0 blowout? And if Josh Gattis and the offense continues with this efficiency, could Michigan finish the season with a winning record in the Big Ten? Here’s a full list of questions answered in this Michigan Football Mailbag: Offense getting better or just a poor showing by Rutgers? Should fans be impressed by the win? McGrone start over Glasgow? Joe Milton’s performance Michigan ranking after dominant win? Winning record in the Big Ten? Should Shea have played the entire game? Thoughts on Gattis’ play calling? Cam McGrone showed his ability to make an impact on defense. Rutgers QB Artur Sitkowski was under pressure throughout Saturday’s game and McGrone came away with some big hits. You wouldn’t know it by looking at the stats, one tackle and 1 QB hurry, but the redshirt freshman caught the attention of fans and coaches alike. So, should McGrone be starting over Glasgow who struggled? SUBSCRIBE: Michigan Football Report with James Yoder is powered by Chat Sports. Gattis decided to call the game from the sideline this week and it appeared to make a big impact. The Wolverines’ offense scored on back-to-back drives to start the game and was clicking on all cylinders. Christian Turner led the running backs with 11 carries for 48 yards but overall, the run game wasn’t really a factor. On the defensive side, Michigan held Rutgers to less than 200 yards of total offense and no scores. No surprise, Don Brown earned himself an A grade in the shutout vs. Rutgers. Going into the game, Michigan defense’s only had 5 sacks. Kwity Paye finished with 1.5 sacks, splitting a sack with Josh Uche. Michigan Football vs Rutgers Instant Analysis & 5 Takeaways From A 52-0 Win

Episode 228

Michigan defeated Rutgers 52-0 in Saturday’s game in the Big House, their 5th straight win over the Scarlet Knights under Jim Harbaugh. Shea Patterson looked healthy and confident, Josh Gattis called the game from the sidelines and the hurry up offense showed promise. Michigan Football Report host James Yoder gives his 5 takeaways from the dominant win over the Scarlet Knights. James Yoder, the King of Michigan Football Media, can be found on social media below for the best Michigan Football coverage: Twitter: https://twitter.com/jamesyoder Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jamesyodermichiganfootball/ Shea Patterson had a career day, rushing for 3 touchdowns and was 17/23 for 276 yards and another TD. Patterson broke his three-game fumble streak and only got sacked once. Backup quarterback Joe Milton also played in the 4th quarter, going 3/4 for 59 yards and a touchdown in the air and on the ground. The 52-0 victory over Rutgers was Michigan’s first shutout since beating Rutgers 78-0 in 2016. Don Brown and the defense only forced 1 turnover, but held Rutgers to less than 200 total yards of offense. Unlike last week against Jonathan Taylor, Michigan’s run defense did a complete 180. Rutgers was held to a combined 45 rushing yards on 28 carries however, Artur Sitkowski was able to expose the defense on short crossing routes. Rutgers QB Sitkowski finished the game 17/24 for 106 yards. Josh Gattis was able to change things on the offense as well, electing to move from calling the game in the booth to on the sidelines. It worked! Yes, it’s Rutgers but Gattis was able to talk to players face-to-face and bring a lot of energy to Michigan’s offense. Eight different players caught passes, including Ronnie Bell who led the receiving corps with 83 yards and 6 receptions. Donovan Peoples-Jones, Nick Eubanks, Nico Collins and Tarik Black also contributed to the 276 passing yards. SUBSCRIBE: Michigan Football Report with James Yoder is powered by Chat Sports.
