Don Brown's Defense, Michigan vs. Penn State, Cam McGrone & Josh Uche I Michigan Football Q&A

Episode 243

Michigan Football got the win over Illinois over the weekend, but allowed 25 unanswered points and come within three in the fourth quarter. It’s going to take a lot more than the effort we saw on Wednesday to come out on top when the Wolverines face the Penn State Nittany Lions this weekend in Happy Valley. Is Michigan’s defense in trouble? James Yoder weighs in. This video was originally part of our LIVE post game reaction video, check it out: : https://youtu.be/LRoZyoV7SYg Michigan’s defense racked up 12 tackles for loss and 8 pass breakups against the Fighting Illini. But the overall effort was overshadowed by a sloppy third quarter performance from the offense scattered with overthrown passes and you guessed it, fumbles. As such, the defense was on the field for the majority of the third quarter and were gassed. Is it fair to say the defense doesn’t want to play for the offense? No… but at some point Michigan’s offense is going to have to start clicking if they want to win. Wanna bet on Michigan to beat Penn State this weekend? Especially when you look ahead when Michigan goes on the road to Penn State and then comes home to play Notre Dame. Against top ten teams, offensive fumbles have to stop and Don Brown will have to get his squad to perform like they did vs. Iowa a few weeks ago. Michigan Football questions asked about the defense on today’s show: - Michigan in trouble vs. Penn State - Defense doesn’t want to play for the offense? - Defense lead to win over Buckeyes? - Fumbles demoralize the defense? - Michigan 1 loss till Ohio State: the defense or offense clicking? - Not as physical as they were 2 years ago? - Playing more like they did vs. Iowa? Michigan Football News: Josh Gattis' Passing Game, Hassan Haskins, Running Attack | Stock Up/Down

Episode 242

Hassan Haskins and the early running game was a bright spot in Michigan’s ugly win over Illinois on Saturday. Haskins led the Wolverines with 12 caries, 125 yards and a touchdown earning his place on James Yoders’ Michigan Football sock up list. The passing game on the other hand was inconsistent, with Shea Patterson completing just 11 of 22 passes. This video was originally featured as part of our LIVE reaction video following the 42-25 victory over the Illinois Illini. Watch the full instant reaction video here: https://youtu.be/LRoZyoV7SYg Michigan defensive lineman Ben Mason finds himself on the stock down list thanks to his 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Shea Patterson and Co. marched down the field for a first-and-goal situation before throwing an incomplete pass to Ben Mason as a fullback. Mason’s hit on the Illinois player cost the team points, pushing Michigan back to 2nd and 25 that turned into a missed FG by Quinn Nordin. Nico Collins Rumors - Was He Really Injured? Questions On Josh Gattis’ Offense | Michigan Football

Episode 241

Michigan Football played one of their worst games of the season in their 42-25 win over Illinois on Saturday. It was a tale of two halves. The offense was able to open up the run game early, with Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins racking up 250 yards in the first half. However, Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines were unable to maintain the “explosive” offense and had to avoid a late upset. So what will it take for Harbaugh to get fired? Michigan Football Report host James Yoder weighs in. Despite not having Nico Collins, Patterson managed to get four scores but was inconsistent at best. Heading into Happy Valley next week, the pressure will be on Patterson to perform. The critics of Shea are growing by the week, but could the offensive struggles be due to coaching? Is Shea Patterson handcuffed by read options? And why does Harbaugh play so many players in key positions rather than the best players? Why not give reps to players who perform? Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins both had career performances vs. Illinois, rushing for 125 and 116 yards respectively. While Charbonnet finished with 18 carries and a touchdown, Haskins got his first TD of the year and is making a push for the starting role. Who should be the Wolverines starting RB? Michigan Football news & rumor questions answered on today’s show: Shea Patterson handcuffed by read options by the coaching staff? Haskins be the starting RB? Stop running RB and TE screens? Fire Harbaugh and hire Gattis as head coach? Why play so many players in key positions instead of best players to max potential? What will it take for Harbaugh to get fired? What’s up with Nico Collins? Charbonnet or Haskins: who should start at running back? Give more reps to players that perform? Michigan Football Rumors: Questions On Jim Harbaugh’s Future, Nico Collins Rumors, Michigan Injuries

Episode 240

Michigan football improves to 5-1 in the 2019 college football season with their 42-25 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini. The Wolverines led by 21 points going into half but came out flat in the second half, causing the game to feel more like a loss than a win. Is Jim Harbaugh to blame? And why wasn’t Nico Collins playing? Michigan Football Report host James Yoder gives his take on all these rumors plus, injuries with Justin Ross and Lavert Hill. This video was part of the LIVE reaction after the victory over Illinois. Harbaugh and the Wolverines were favorites to win the B1G East coming into the year but will be lucky to end the season with 8 wins, especially if the team continues to struggle with fumbles. Shea Patterson finished the day with 192 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. U-M’s offense looked to be hitting its stride in the first half, with the offensive line created giant holes for Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins. Haskins had a breakout day with 12 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. Despite Patteron’s 3 touchdown passes, he threw for just 50% efficiency and had yet another fumble? Is it time to move on from Shea and give Dylan McCaffrey or Joe Milton a chance? Michigan Football Rumors: Has Josh Gattis Been Harbaugh’s Worst Hire? Is Gattis On The Hot Seat?

Episode 238

Josh Gattis and the Michigan Football offense is the worst of Jim Harbaugh’s 5 seasons at Michigan - yes, even worse than the absolutely putrid 2017 offense that rotated Wilton Speight (injured), John O’Korn, and Brandon Peters all season. That season saw Michigan drop it’s final 3 games and end up with an 8-5 record. Jim Harbaugh gave Josh Gattis the reigns to the offense in 2019 and now Harbaugh has to be wondering whether he made an awful decision. Michigan Football Report host James Yoder takes a look at 2018 offense vs. 2019 offense3 through 5 games, stat leaders, comparison to Ohio State and a look at the remaining Michigan football schedule, which includes a night game @ Penn State on 10/19. Please subscribe to the channel today for the best Michigan Football coverage during the 2019 season. Do it - https://www.youtube.com/MichiganTV?sub_confirmation=1 Josh Gattis’ offense did not look anything like it did last week when it put up 52 points. Gattis called plays from the sideline once again, but Shea Patterson could not get in rhythm & Michigan’s rushing attack was mediocre at best. The Wolverines’ offense could not get anything going after taking an early lead, & thanks to the defense the Michigan Wolverines improved to 4-1 on the season after defeating #14 Iowa in week 6 of the college football season. Michigan’s offensive performance earned Gattis an F grade. On the defensive side, Michigan held Iowa to a field goal. No surprise, Don Brown earned himself an A grade in dominant fashion. Going into the game, Michigan defense’s only had 7 sacks & 2 INT in the 1st 5 games. Michigan recorded 8 sacks & 3 INT vs. Iowa alone. Kwity Paye had himself a day with 2.5 sacks while Jordan Glasgow was all over the field, recording 9 tackles & 2 sacks of his own. Michigan Football vs. Iowa: Instant Analysis & 5 Takeaways From Michigan’s 10-3 Win

Episode 236

Michigan defeated Iowa 10-3 in Saturday’s game in the Big House, their first ranked win of the 2019 college football season. Josh Gattis’ offense looked pretty bad with Shea Patterson, but Michigan’s defense gets the credit for this victory as they played outstanding, forcing 4 turnovers & recording 8 sacks. Michigan Football Report host James Yoder gives his 5 takeaways from the nail-biting win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. James Yoder, the King of Michigan Football Media, can be found on social media below for the best Michigan Football coverage: Twitter: https://twitter.com/jamesyoder Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jamesyodermichiganfootball/ Shea Patterson had a bad day, going 14/26 for 147 yards & 1 INT. Zach Charbonnet scored the only touchdown of the day while rushing for 42 yards on the ground. Nico Collins led all receivers with 63 yards on 3 catches, while Donovan Peoples-Jones contributed with 4 receptions for 26 yards. Michigan’s 10 points are the fewest points scored in a win over a conference opponent since 1995. Don Brown and the defense forced 4 turnovers & recorded 8 sacks, completely shutting down Iowa’s offense. Iowa was held to only 1 rushing yard the entire game. ONE RUSHING YARD! However, Nate Stanley was able to expose the defense on short crossing routes. Stanley finished the game 23/42 for 260 yards & 3 INT. Saturday was Stanley’s first ever game with 3 or more interceptions. Kwity Paye had a breakout game with 4 tackles, including 2.5 sacks while Jordan Glasgow was all over the place with 9 tackles, including 2 sacks & 2 TFL. Michigan’s secondary was full of ballhawks as 3 different players had an interception. Dax Hill was not one of those players, but he was all over the field, tallying 6 tackles on the day.
