WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The late Skip Prosser has been gone eight years, but the lessons he instilled in Xavier coach Chris Mack live on.
Mack was a two-year captain as a player for Pete Gillen and Prosser, director of basketball operations near the end of Prosser’s tenure as XU's head coach, and a three-year assistant under Prosser at Wake Forest. His former mentor is the inspiration for Tuesday’s 7 p.m. Skip Prosser Classic game on the Demon Deacons’ court.
Mack said he’ll never forget how well Prosser treated everyone he met.
“Skip never got big-time,” Mack said.
