Zach Freemantle's 2022-23 season is over.
Xavier's star forward, who's missed the last nine games with a foot injury, will have season-ending surgery on Tuesday, sources told The Enquirer.
Xavier's athletic department confirmed the news Sunday night in a press release.
Freemantle's been out since a Jan. 28 loss at Creighton. The initial timeline for Freemantle's recovery was four weeks, but head coach Sean Miller was hopeful Freemantle would be able to return.
The hope was that after sitting out for a month, enough healing would occur to allow Freemantle to play in the Big East Conference Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
