Xavier's Paul Scruggs fouls out against Butler at end of regulation in Big East Tournament

Paul Scruggs pulled Xavier back against Butler in the final moments of their opening round game of the Big East Tournament.

Scruggs was sinking several highlight reel shots in the final moments of the game. And then, inexplicably, Scruggs fouled Butler guard Simas Lukosius with 5.1 seconds left in the game.

That allowed Lukosius to step up to the foul line and sink two free throws to tie the game 68-68 at the end of regulation.

Scruggs finished the game with 15 points, six assists and three rebounds. Before that final sequence, Scruggs kept Xavier in the game with incredible shots like this one:

"What he did on the one end counted, but he had difficulty on the other," color analyst Bill Raftery said on the Fox Sports 1 broadcast.
