Early in the first half against Villanova, Edmond Sumner went up for a fast break bucket. Then this happened:
Sumner was down and not moving while the game stopped. He was eventually able to bend his legs, but he was removed from the arena on a stretcher without ever attempting to stand. He was able to squeeze the fingers of the first responders in the arena.
Sumner was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, including CAT scans. Coach Mack reported post game that Ed was up and moving around but had no recollection of the event.
