WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – It took an jaw-dropping second-half rally, but No. 6 Xavier retained its rank among the country’s dwindling unbeatens by defeating Wake Forest 78-70 in Tuesday’s Skip Prosser Classic at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
After playing their worst first half of the season, trailing by as many as 18 points and heading to the locker room with a deficit, the Musketeers executed a wild comeback and staved off a late Demon Deacons rally.
“I love this area,” said Xavier coach Chris Mack, a former Demon Deacons assistant. “But after the first half I was considering never coming back.
