Xavier's women's tennis team made history Sunday by defeating top-seeded DePaul 4-2 for the Big East Championship at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in South Carolina.
It marked the first conference title for an XU women’s sports team since the university joined the Big East in 2013.
Led by Most Outstanding Player Sydney Liggins, who won her singles match and doubles match with Amina Ismail, the second-seeded Musketeers clinched the league's automatic bid to the Division I NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship.
