PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Xavier junior guard Paul Scruggs will not play Wednesday night at Providence with an apparent leg injury, the Musketeers announced hours before the team is scheduled to take the floor.
Scruggs is Xavier's third-leading scorer (12.9 points per game) and one of its better defenders.
The injury occurred during Xavier's practice Tuesday before the team headed to Rhode Island.
Without him, head coach Travis Steele will likely decide between senior Quentin Goodin or freshman KyKy Tandy to replace him in the starting lineup. Regardless of who starts in his place, both Tandy and Goodin will be relied upon heavily against the Friars.
