Xavier University and men's basketball head coach Travis Steele have agreed to part ways, The Enquirer has confirmed. The story was first reported by Rick Broering, publisher of MusketeerReport.com.
Steele was in his fourth season as Xavier's head coach and the news of his departure is surprising considering the Musketeers just won a first-round game in the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night.
Xavier athletic director Greg Christopher told The Enquirer earlier this week that he would meet with Steele after the season. Obviously, the situation unfolded much quicker.
Steele missed the NCAA Tournament all four seasons he was the head coach.
