The Xavier men’s basketball team is one of eight in the 2018 Maui Jim Maui Invitational field, tournament organizers announced Wednesday.
It will be Xavier's first-ever trip to the event, which will feature eight Division I programs - Arizona, Auburn, Duke, Gonzaga, Illinois, Iowa State, San Diego State and Xavier - for the first time in its 35-year history.
One of the teams XU could meet is Arizona, led by head coach Sean Miller - who preceded Chris Mack as Xavier's head coach. (Mack was an assistant under Miller.) The Wildcats ousted Xavier from the NCAA tournament in a 2015 regional semifinal.
