NASHVILLE – One of the most joyous seasons of Xavier basketball ended far sooner than many expected.

Xavier, the NCAA Tournament West Region's top seed, crashed out of the competition at the hands of the ninth-seeded Florida State Seminoles (23-11 overall) exactly a year to the day from when Xavier upset the Seminoles in last year's tournament.

On Sunday, FSU downed Xavier, 75-70, at Bridgestone, sending one of the all-time great Xavier University teams filled with some of the all-time great Musketeers into the offseason.
