Xavier signs 7-year-old to honorary letter of intent

Seven-year-old Jacob Armstrong is the newest member of Xavier's track and cross country programs.

Coach Ryan Orner signed the Florence second-grader to a National Letter of Intent in a Sunday press conference at Cintas Center. Members of the track and cross country programs were on hand to welcome Armstrong, who has Cystic Fibrosis.

CF is an inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. Armstrong undergoes two treatments a day with a vest in order to breathe better.

Armstrong will attend practice and training sessions with XU's teams as his schedule allows. He'll also be part of social activities, like the ice cream social he recently had with team members.
