Xavier let a golden opportunity slip through its fingers Wednesday night against Marquette at Cintas Center.

The Musketeers went 11 for 25 from the foul line in an 84-82 double-overtime loss to the Golden Eagles that sinks Xavier to 13-8 overall and 2-6 in the Big East Conference.

"Obviously, we gotta make our free throws," said Xavier head coach Travis Steele. "You can't win any games in the Big East going 11 of 25 from the free-throw line. Period. We gotta step up. We gotta knock those in."

Xavier led 49-43 with 12:05 left in regulation when Marquette senior star Markus Howard suffered a facial injury that ended his night with 18 points.
