LAS VEGAS – The young season continues to reveal more of Xavier basketball's current shortcomings, but the players themselves continue to exhibit enough mettle to overcome those shortcomings.
The No. 15-ranked Musketeers on Thursday remained an unfinished product against the George Washington Colonials, but Xavier (5-0) had the raw talent necessary to slog through to an 83-64 victory at Orleans Arena.
The game was part of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. With the win, Xavier advanced to Friday's 5:30 p.m. championship game against either Arizona State or Kansas State.
Trevon Bluiett, the Big East's leading scorer entering the game, had the closest thing he can to a pedestrian game as he went for 20 points (7 of 15 shooting).
