Xavier got out to a quick start, going up 9-0 before Georgetown called a timeout with 16:21 left in the first half. Four different players scored for Xavier in the opening run, and included a three from Kyle Castlin.
They cooled off a bit, only scoring three points in the next four and a half minutes, but played well enough on the defensive end to maintain a 12-6 lead with 12:00 remaining in the first half.
Xavier continued to stretch their lead, as they were up 21-13 with 7:56 left in the first half.
The Hoyas grabbed momentum after, cutting Xavier’s lead to four, 23-19, before Xavier was able to go on a quick 5-0 spurt to push the lead back to nine, 28-19.
