ORLANDO —In many ways, Xavier men's basketball's current journey began with its second-round, 2016 NCAA Tournament loss to the Wisconsin Badgers last season.
The wound from that painfully memorable loss that dropped the curtain on a dream Musketeers' season is still present and very raw.
Players and coaches talked about it at points throughout the season. They seem to still be haunted by it. Certainly, they’re still measured against it by their fan base.
Most of all, they’re desperate to erase the memory of that game — something that can probably only be achieved by winning at the same stage in the tournament this season.
