There were 20 turnovers, many of the head-scratching variety, but after 10 minutes of kicking the basketball around the court, Xavier settled down and figured out how to play in Monday's 96-73 season-opening win over Morgan State at Cintas Center.
Xavier trailed Morgan State 21-19 with a little more than 10 minutes left in the first half, then closed the half on a 31-5 run that was equally impressive at both ends of the floor.
The free-throw line went a long way in stabilizing Xavier. The Musketeers went 21-of-24 at the line in the first half.
