CHICAGO – With 5:04 left in its Big East Conference opener at DePaul Saturday afternoon, Xavier trailed 61-55 and the situation looked dire.
Only the Musketeers didn't die. They proceeded to close the game on a 19-4 run over the final five minutes to collect Xavier's first true road win of the season, 74-65, and get off on the right foot in conference play.
For a team that looked downright miserable on the road in its first two tries this season, it was the best response Xavier's shown all season.
Naji Marshall played like a warrior wearing a band-aided right eye to patch up a cut, Marshall led Xavier with 19 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and four assists.
