Xavier overcame a 17-point first-half deficit with its toughest performance to date to beat Georgetown 81-75 Wednesday before a sellout Cintas Center crowd.
Xavier outscored Georgetown 47-36 in the second half and went 17 of 22 from the foul line in the second half to hold off the Hoyas and they did it without starting point guard Quentin Goodin, who was sidelined with a knee injury.
The first half was a shooting clinic from Georgetown. The Hoyas hit their first six 3-pointers while Xavier struggled to find a rhythm on offense.
The tide turned with 3:28 left in the first half during a Xavier timeout.
