CHARLESTON, SC - Hits were hard to come by in the series opener for Xavier baseball. The Musketeers scored early, and had a solid outing from starter Lane Flamm, but couldn't hang on to the narrow advantage.
Jack Housinger started things off with an RBI double in the first. Flamm threw 5.2 shutout innings before a 2-out 2 RBI single swung the momentum towards the Cougars. Slowly, Charleston built up the lead until the 4-1 final.
Xavier will take the diamond tomorrow for Game Two scheduled fro 1:00 p.
