NEW YORK CITY — That Xavier men's basketball drastically improved it's standing in NCAA Tournament discussion at the Big East Tournament this week did not soften the blow of its last-second defeat to Creighton University.
With the game tied at 72 in the closing seconds of Thursday's league semi-final at Madison Square Garden, Blue Jays guard Marcus Foster swished a 3-pointer that served as the game-winning score in a 75-72 victory over the seventh-seeded Musketeers.
J.P. Macura drilled a career-best six 3-pointers in the game, but his last attempt as time expired came up short.
