MILWAUKEE – Myles Davis went an entire half without scoring a point, and then most of another.
Then the junior guard delivered two of the biggest baskets of the game, a pair of 3-pointers that quelled a Marquette uprising and paved the way for Xavier’s 74-66 victory in Saturday’s Big East showdown at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Musketeers desperately needed to score after Marquette whittled a 16-point deficit to nine on a Jajuan Johnson lay-up with 6:40 left. Xavier. Davis curbed the Musketeers’ 1-for-12 stretch from the field with his first triple.
