NEW YORK CITY —Take the decision out of the NCAA Tournament selection committee's hands – that was the goal Xavier gave itself coming into the Big East Tournament.
Surely, the Musketeers made any possible decision regarding an at-large bid easier on the committee by virtue of their 62-57, last-minute win over the second-seeded and No. 18-ranked Butler University Bulldogs in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
The win pushed Xavier to 21-12 overall, as well as to a berth in a Big East semifinals where they'll meet either Providence College or Creighton University Friday night.
