Xavier's first week of college basketball was intense. Much more dramatic than anticipated.
It featured two back-and-forth battles that carried deep into the second half with Saturday's game against Evansville – in front of more than 10,500 fans in the Cintas Center – going right down to the wire in a 91-85 Xavier win, despite the Musketeers going without a field goal over the final 3:15 of the game.
"I want to give Evansville a lot of credit," said Xavier head coach Travis Steele. "They gave us a great test today. They made a lot of shots.
