Great opportunities are supposed to be rare. They aren't commonplace, everyday occurrences.
Zach Hankins is aware of that. He also knows that when fate is kind enough to toss a golden opportunity at your feet, you pick it up before it disappears.
One opportunity was all he needed. Coming out of high school in Charlevoix, Michigan, Hankins had zero Division I offers to play college basketball.
As a matter of fact, the Xavier graduate transfer only had one Division II offer to play from Ferris State.
He made the most of it.
Hankins parlayed that offer into a Division II national championship last season and was named the Division II national player of the year, averaging 15.
