INDIANAPOLIS - A first half goal from Natalie Bain and a fifth shutout for the Musketeer defense helped Xavier women's soccer pick up the 1-0 win at Butler on Thursday evening. The Musketeers moved to 7-2-1 on the season, and 1-0 in BIG EAST play.
Xavier held the advantage on offense in the first half, taking a 9-3 lead on shots, including a 4-1 lead on shots on goal before the half. Midway through the first half, one of the looks on goal, a header from Natalie Bain off a free kick from Rachel Dewey, found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead which the Musketeers took into the break
In the second half the Bulldogs offense turned up the pressure creating four shots, two on goal, in the first 15 minutes of the second period.
