RICHMOND, Ky. - Despite some wet conditions, Mikayla Smith and Mikayla Fitzpatrick are both in the top-10 after day one at the Colonel Classic on Friday.
Smith's standout day one (73, +1) was powered by her scoring on par-4's, where the junior was 2-under with a 3.80 scoring average to tie for first in the field. Her four birdies were tied for tops in the tournament.
Fitzpatrick was right behind with a day one score of 74 (+2) on the strength of 12 pars and two birdies.
Freshman Morgan Tinsley, fresh off BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honors, is tied for 15th after 18 holes with a 3-over round of 75.
