Xavier University head men’s basketball coach Travis Steele and two of his assistants published their opinions Sunday on the weekend's unrest related to the death of George Floyd while being restrained by a Minneapolis police officer.
In a tweet Sunday morning, Steele, who is white, said, “Defenseless black men continue to be murdered for no apparent reason. The hate, discrimination and outright lack of human decency is sickening. This has to change! My team and staff at Xavier consists of black men both young and old, and my heart breaks for them. I will never know how it feels to be in their shoes, but I want to be a part of the long-overdue change to racism that needs to take place.
