On an otherwise innocuous play during Wednesday's drubbing of Marquette University, Xavier senior guard Trevon Bluiett leaned into an unbalanced jumpshot from around the top of the key at the 7:10 mark in the second half.
The ball swished through the hoop and put Xavier up by 23 points.
The eighth-ranked Musketeers (19-3, 7-2 Big East) went on to win, 89-70, so the basket by Bluiett might not have appeared to be of much consequence.
The bucket actually represented Xavier basketball history, and almost everything about it typified Bluiett's Xavier career.
The score made Bluiett just the fifth Musketeer ever to reach 2,000 career points, putting him in the elite company of Tyrone Hill (2,003 career points), Romain Sato (2,005), David West (2,132 points) and all-time leading scorer Byron Larkin (2,696).
