"I felt like we played with a lot of desperation."
Sophomore Colby Jones delivered that line on Saturday night in the post-game press conference following a 97-75 win over Georgetown that snapped Xavier's five-game losing streak, and at least momentarily stopped the Musketeers from sliding outside the NCAA Tournament field.
Jones, who had another strong game with 16 points, six rebounds, and seven assists, added that the Musketeers knew it was a must-win scenario.
That's how Xavier played. It didn't matter that Georgetown's in the midst of a historically bad season.
Xavier needed to end its losing streak and play well in the process to provide some semblance of hope that the Musketeers could still turn this season around before it was too late.
