The St. John's University Red Storm are reeling in Big East Conference play, so you might say their Tuesday date with Xavier basketball is coming at an inopportune moment.
The Red Storm host sixth-ranked Xavier (19-3, 7-2 Big East) at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York City, at 8:30 p.m.
St. John's (10-12, 0-10 Big East) was a program picked in preseason by plenty of experts to take steps forward, and for a while it seemed like they were doing just that. The Red Storm opened non-conference play with a 10-2 record, and while guard Marcus Lovett's injury loomed large over the proceedings the team seemed to be progressing in spite of that setback.
