Xavier competed from start to finish but didn't have enough late to close the gap at Villanova on Friday, Jan. 19, 2019 Adam Baum, abaum@enquirer.com
If it seems like the Big East Conference is hard to predict this season that's probably because it is.
Providence, like Xavier (11-8), has been a little tough to figure out and a little up and down this season.
Since the Big East portion of the schedule began, the Friars (11-7) have lost four of five in the conference, but they've been competitive in all those with close losses against Villanova, Creighton, Georgetown, and a 72-63 win over Seton Hall.
