A coach's job is to expect more from a player than they expect from themself, to push a player to the point of discomfort because life is often uncomfortable and comfort isn't always a viable strategy to deal with adversity.
Long after he played his last game at Xavier for Sean Miller, those qualities are what Derrick Brown still appreciates about Miller.
"At that point in your life, you're learning how to become a man," Brown, who played at Xavier from 2005-09, told The Enquirer. "So you don't even necessarily know some of the things that you need for that journey, both on the court and off the court.
