OMAHA, Nebraska – The Creighton Bluejays had Xavier basketball, the No. 5-ranked team in America, well and truly on the ropes, and beaten.
The game was all but won for Creighton after Ronnie Harrell Jr. was fouled attempting a 3-pointer with 4.6 to play in regulation. He drained the resulting three free-throws to put the Bluejays up, 71-70.
Xavier's summoned a winning response, though.
Sophomore guard Quentin Goodin galloped down the court and drew a blocking foul on Creighton big Toby Hegner with .3 seconds remaining in regulation.
That gave Goodin a chance to win the game with two free-throws.
