The Crosstown Shootout is ostensibly a boxing match on a basketball court where the toughest team is rewarded with a win and Saturday afternoon in front of 12,513 fans inside Fifth Third Arena, the University of Cincinnati was tougher than Xavier.
All the statistics and analytics from 40 minutes of basketball weren't as important as that simple fact in a 62-47 win.
"Whenever you play in the Shootout I always say the best team doesn't always win, the toughest team does and I thought they were the tougher team today," said Xavier head coach Travis Steele.
