CINCINNATI - Xavier used four big innings at the plate, featuring four home runs, to take the 2-1 edge in the season series with Cincinnati, topping the Bearcats 16-8 at Hayden Field on Sunday. The Musketeers moved to 5-8 overall while Cincinnati fell to 7-9.
UC took a one-run lead into the fourth, where Xavier responded with a three-run frame featuring a pair of home runs, from Alex Helmin and Matthew DePrey. Six runs in the top of the fifth put Cincinnati ahead 7-3, but the Musketeers used three hits to pick up two more runs to pull within two in the bottom of the inning.
