PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - Xavier baseball opened up the three-game series at Villanova with a 2-1 loss to the Wildcats. Game two with VU is set for Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Xavier took a one-run lead in the top of the third and Villanova responded in the bottom of the inning. The Wildcats added another run in the bottom of the fifth to take a one run lead. The Musketeers were unable to get another run across to set the final score at 2-1.
only allowed two earned runs in 6.1 innings of work in the start but Villanova's starter Gordon Graceffo pitched a complete game, allowing just one run, unearned, on four hits and one walk to take the win.
