About five years ago, Garrett Wood decided to try something different, not knowing that one decision would change his life.
Wood, a sophomore at Xavier University, won the individual title Sunday at the Big East Conference men’s golf championship, becoming the 12th golfer in Xavier history to win an individual conference title and clinching a spot individually in the NCAA Tournament May 13-15 at the Louisville Regional.
Five years ago, though, Wood didn’t even play golf.
