NEW YORK – Women's cross country and track and field student-athlete Maddie Britton and men's swimmer Alex Wolfred were named the BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete Award winners. The honor, which is presented by Sunkist, goes to a student athlete with a 3.0 grade point average or higher as a senior or graduate student. Each will receive $2,000 which may be applied to graduate or professional studies.
Britton is one of the most decorated female runners in Xavier school history. The two-time All-BIG EAST selection in cross country competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the fall of 2017, becoming only the second runner to compete at the national championships in school history.
