MAUI – Xavier opened Monday as a 10-point underdog against No. 8 Auburn, which moved up one spot in the latest AP poll, in the opening game of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Auburn 77, Xavier 77, OVERTIME – Xavier trailed 77-72 with 54 seconds left in the game when Paul Scruggs knocked down a massive transition three to make it a two-point game with 53.8 left. Auburn's ensuing trip down the floor ended with an unbelievable steal and leaping save by Scruggs as he was going out of bounds.
Xavier came down and Goodin handed it off to Tyrique Jones who got fouled and hit both to tie the game, 77-77, with 26.
