Former Xavier University basketball standout J.P. Macura had a memorable NBA G-League debut on Friday night for the Greensboro Swarm, scoring 27 points with six rebounds and two steals in his team's 114-98 win against Wisconsin.
The Charlotte Hornets signed the undrafted Macura to a two-way contract - meaning he belongs to both the G-League team and the NBA parent club - in July. He averaged 3.3 points in 5.6 minutes per game in four preseason games.
Macura was the second-leading scorer for Xavier last season with 12.9 points per game. He finished his four-year Xavier career 19th on the Muskies' all-time scoring list with 1,491 points.
