CINCINNATI, OH - Xavier baseball triumphed on Sunday with the help of 12 base hits and 11 runs. Key homers by Jerry Huntzinger and Luke Franzoni plus good pitching from Luke Bell, Jared Gadd, and Jack Lynch led to a convincing 9-3 victory for the Musketeers.
Just as they had in the first two games, Creighton scored in the top of the first. Down 2-0, Xavier strung a few hits together to get one back on a Tyler DeMartino RBI groundout. the 2-1 score would remian for the majority of the game, that is until Jerry Huntzinger launched a grand slam in the fourth to give Xavier a 5-1 lead, which would ultimately prove to be enough.
