To care deeply about anything means it has to hurt when it's over.
Xavier University's baseball season started with a nine-game losing streak and ended Sunday in the Big East Conference Tournament championship, two wins away from the title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
After Sunday's 7-2 loss to UConn, Xavier's team huddled together in the outfield at Prasco Park for the last time this season. There were hugs, smiles, and a lot of tears, and it was easy to see how much they cared about the season, their goal and each other.
"That's one of the toughest things," said Xavier head coach Billy O'Conner.
