They were competitors the first time Bucky McMillan really took notice of Colby Jones.
Jones was a sophomore at Pinson Valley and McMillan, who's the head coach at Mountain Brook High School, was scouting the opposition to prepare his team when they clashed on the Alabama high school basketball hardwood.
"I just remember what he was then," McMillan said. "They made a coaching change at his old school. He left, came over to our school going into his junior year and the rest is history."
McMillan wasn't unfamiliar with Jones, he knew of him because he remembered watching Colby's father, Chad Jones, when he played at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
