NEW YORK – Down 74-73 with 39 seconds left Monday night at Madison Square Garden, Xavier called timeout to set up a play for its leading scorer, but junior Naji Marshall lost control of the ball and it looked like Xavier's 22nd turnover of the night might doom the Musketeers against St. John's.
To stop the clock, Paul Scruggs had to commit his fifth foul with 26 seconds left on St. John's guard Rasheem Dunn, who went to the line and missed the front end of his one-and-one free throws.
Marshall collected the rebound, unfazed by his turnover the last time down the floor, and this time, he made the right play.
