CINCINNATI - Freshman Carrie Gross scored a season-high 12 points on Sunday afternoon as Xavier topped Delaware State, 80-59, on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. The Musketeers moved to 7-1 on the year, while the Hornets moved to 2-5.
• Xavier hit its first three shots of the game to take an early 9-2 advantage over the Hornets. Delaware State responded by going on an 8-1 run to tie the game for the only time, 10-10, at the 6:12 mark. The Musketeers outscored the Hornets, 13-5, over the final six minutes of action in the quarter to take a 23-15 lead.
