DUBLIN, Ohio — Jim Herman, a Cincinnati west sider, is within striking distance of the leaders after Thursday's opening round at the Memorial Tournament PGA Tour event.
Herman, the St. Xavier and University of Cincinnati product, posted an opening-round, two-under 70 Thursday at the Jack Nicklaus-hosted tour stop at Muirfield Village Golf Club in suburban Columbus.
Herman wedged himself into a multi-player tie for 13th place and is within striking distance of the lead.
Herman is in the midst of the likes of Phil Mickelson, Charl Schwartzel, Rickie Fowler and others at two-under.
"It was a solid round," Herman told The Enquirer.
